Minglanilla, Cebu

This is my first time to post and i'm thinking of writing about my hometown, Minglanilla Cebu. The place where I was born and grew up. The place known to be the "Sugat Capital" of the south. So here are the facts about Minglanilla.

Minglanilla Parish Church

Minglanilla is the first income class municipality in the province of Cebu, Philippines. It is part of a metropolitan area known as Metro Cebu. It is known as the "Sugat Capital" of the south. The Kabanhawan (Cebuano for "Resurrection") Festival is held annually on Easter Sunday in honor of the Risen Christ.

Minglanilla is located approximately 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) south of Cebu City. It is bounded on the southwest by Naga, Cebu; on the northwest by Toledo City; on the northeast by Talisay City; and on the southeast by the Bohol Strait.

In history, the word Buat was its name before but it was change to Minglanilla by the rule of the Spanish time and has its own legend at Barrio Linao, called a fascinating town.

They found out the bay was disappeared in a flood and accidentally transformed into a spirits or anitos. Aside from the history and legend, they have also industries like entrepreneurs, professionals, skilled workers and their source of livelihood are farming and fishing.

Minglanilla has its mission to develop affordable gardens and help the community to make it better and become more progressive by planting more trees and save mother earth. In this town, Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish is the center of the town’s religious activities where it was built over the hilltop which overlooking the famous island of Bohol.

The municipality falls under the third type of climate or rainfall condition. It is characterized by a short dry season lasting from one to six months. There is no pronounced maximum rain period. The town is placed under the tropical rainforest type of world climate which has a uniform high temperature and heavy precipitation distribution throughout the year.
